The Ultimate Guide to Mountain Biking at Mystic Mountain
Mystic Mountain has cemented itself as one of Australia's top mountain biking destinations, and staying at Camp Crusty puts you right at the base of this incredible trail network.
With over 40 kilometres of purpose-built singletrack, there's something for every rider. Beginners should start with the Flume Trail, a gentle 3-kilometre loop near the base with smooth berms and easy gradients that build confidence. From there, Blue Slip offers a step up in difficulty with some rock features and steeper sections.
Intermediate riders will love the Mystic Trail itself — a 12-kilometre climb and descent that takes you through stunning forest with views across the Ovens Valley. The trail is well-marked and features a mix of flowing sections and technical challenges that reward good technique.
For experienced riders, the Mystic Thriller is the crown jewel. This 7-kilometre descent drops over 500 vertical metres and features rock gardens, drops, tight switchbacks, and fast flow sections. A shuttle service runs on weekends and during school holidays, saving your legs for the descent.
Camp Crusty guests enjoy the unique advantage of being able to ride directly from their site to the trailhead — no car required. After your ride, our purpose-built bike wash station will have your bike sparkling in minutes.
